Are You Too Boring?

My wife Lisa and I went out to dinner with some friends last weekend, and after dinner we all decided to walk across the street and get dessert at the Stone Cold Creamery.

And let me tell you, if you’ve never been to Stone Cold Creamery, you need to check it out.

In addition to having the best ice cream on the planet, they make incredible use of the “entertainment factor”, and rest assured, it keeps their customers coming back for more (myself included).

If you’ve never been, I won’t ruin the surprise by telling you how they do what they do.

As home-based business owners, there’s a valuable lesson to be discovered here.

Most business owners are incredibly boring when it comes to selling their product or service.

They create these brochures that are full of facts, figures, statistics and graphs, that are meant to show everyone how great they are.

Have you ever seen garbage like this?

Of course you have.

And when you got one of these boring brochures, what did you do with it?

That’s right, you deep sixed it, right into the trash can.

It’s no surprise that the businesses who produce this garbage aren’t making any money.

If you bore your prospects to death, they’ll never stick around long enough to spend money with you.

But, on the other hand…

If you entertain, as well inform, not only will your prospects buy what you’re offering, but they’ll tell others about you as well.

You see, people love (and need) to be entertained.

Consider yourself.

When I communicate with you, I don’t show you how to make more money in business by quoting statistics and figures.

How boring would that be?

Instead, I share personal experiences and stories (some of which are incredibly embarrassing).

I also let you see inside my life, and let you know that I’m a regular person just like you.

As a result, you’re entertained.
