Cat In A Tree, And Me
On the Tuesday before Christmas our beloved cat Alex, had escaped the house and was missing for several hours.
As you can imagine, my wife and two daughters were really upset about this, and insisted that I head out and find our pet.
If you recall from my previous emails, I told you how bad the weather had been around here during the month of December, and how we’d been deluged with snow, as well as dealing with widespread power outages that went on for weeks.
So let me tell you…
This was no walk in the park.
At about 6:00 in the evening, I headed out into the dark, cold and snowy weather to look for our cat.
Uh-oh… this is starting to sound like one of those stories your grandpa would tell you, about how he walked for miles, up hill both ways in the snow, in order to get to school and back home every day.
But, I do need to set the scene for you.
Long story short – the weather was miserable.
So hear I am, out there looking for the cat.
And let me tell you, I’m giving it my best effort.
6;30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00.
After two hours of searching, I finally came back home empty handed, and needless to say, the girls were not impressed.
Lisa tells me, “Kevin, you’ve got to go back out there and bring Alex home”.
So what do I do?
Once again, I head back out to search for the cat.
Only this time I do something a little different.
I spend just a moment, thinking about what it’s going to be like when I find Alex, and how happy the girls are going to be when I walk in the front door of our home, with cat in hand.
I then began calling for the cat, and in the darkness, I hear this faint meow.
I ran back into the house and exclaim, “I think I found the cat, and I need a flashlight”.
After finding the flashlight, I race back outside to locate the cat, only this time, my wife Lisa and my two daughters are following right behind.
I begin calling for the cat again, and sure enough, he’s answering me.
As it turns out, he must’ve got spooked by some other animal, and now, here he sat, about 30 feet up this huge pine tree in our back yard.
We spent an hour or so, trying to coax him down, but he was just too scared.
I decided that we needed professional help, so I go back into the house and call the fire department.
After all, you always hear stories about firemen rescuing cats from trees.
I get the dispatcher on the phone, only to find that they no longer offer this value added service.
She informs me that I need to call a tree service, so that’s what I do.
Only problem is, he can’t get there until the morning, and Alex would have to stay the night in the tree.
The tree guy shows up bright and early at 7 am.
He immediately went to work preparing his gear. Within a few minutes he was climbing the tree, and as soon as he got close, Alex came right to him.
He then rappelled down the tree and handed me our cold and wet, yet grateful cat.
27 minutes- and $250.00 later, he was gone, and Alex was reunited with his family.
I tell you this story to make a simple point.
Some people would think that $250 bucks is a lot of money to pay this guy for just a few minutes of his time.
And truth is, there was a time in my life when I would’ve thought so too.
But, this story isn’t about the $250.00.
It’s about getting what I wanted, which was to have the cat back home with us, and my wife and daughters happy again.
And for that, there is no price that’s too high.
It reminds me of when I first made the decision that I was going to succeed in my own business, no matter what it took.
Sure, I had to invest a considerable amount of money to make it happen.
And at the time, a lot of my friends gave me grief for spending so much money on manuals, courses, audio series and attending seminars.
But…
Guess who’s having the last laugh now.
My income now over shadow’s that of ALL my friends, and at this point, they’re thinking that I’m one pretty smart cookie.
I can honestly say that the best investment I’ve ever made, was in my own education.
That’s why I continue to do so - on a regular basis.
And yes, the best investment you’ll ever make is in YOUR own education.
You’re already on the right track, and if you stick around for awhile, you too will get the results you want.
Many of you have asked for a way to get my personal one-on-one assistance, and in case you didn’t know, I now offer it for a ridiculously low investment.
And truth is, I’ll probably be increasing the price very soon.
