Your #1 Goal
When it comes to setting and achieving goals, most methods you’ve heard about are not very productive.
Over the years, I’ve read countless books on the subject.
And every book seems to offer different advice for achieving your goals.
The authors tell you to write 1-year, 5-year and 10-year goals.
Some tell you to keep a copy of your goals with you at all times, so you can refer to them often.
Some tell you to write your goals on paper, and then hide them away. Supposedly you’ll be able to revisit these goals at a later date (say 6-12 months down the road), and find that you’ve accomplished many of the goals on your list.
As for me…
I’ve tried all these methods, and while some of them worked to an extent, I’ve discovered a method that works much better.
But, before I go on, I need to tell you one thing.
I can’t take personal credit for the discovery I’m about to share with you.
My good friend - and mentor, Matt Furey is the man who shared this concept with me, and let me tell you, it works like crazy.
You still want to set long range goals, but I suggest not going much more than a year out.
After all, who knows what you’ll be doing in 5, 10 or 15 years from now.
If you want to experience REAL growth in your business and personal life, the secret is to set 1 goal for each day.
1 goal that will take you closer to where you want to be in life.
Here’s how I accomplish this:
Each night, before I go to bed, I simply ask myself, “What’s the one thing I can do tomorrow that will have the biggest financial impact for myself and my family?”
In many cases, when I ask myself this question, and answer immediately comes to mind.
Other times, I need to sleep on it.
But…
When I wake in the morning, I’ve got my answer.
The answer could be a number of things, such as:
Writing a letter to my subscribers.
Making a phone call to set up a joint venture relationship.
Brainstorm a new product idea.
Whatever I come up with – this now becomes my #1 goal for the day.
I’ll typically get to work on the task immediately, because once it completed, it sets the stage for the rest of the day.
You see…
When you’ve only got one major goal to accomplish each day, and you get it done during the first part of your day, it gives you a HUGE sense of accomplishment.
And let me tell you, after a month of following this regimen, you’ll look back on what you’ve accomplished, and be very excited to achieve more of your goals.
Imagine what it will be like in a year from now.
Imagine where you’ll be, and what you’ll be doing.
Imagine the sense of accomplishment you’ll feel.
By taking baby steps, and accomplishing these small daily goals, the results in your business and personal life will be incredible.
Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson
