Eli's Day To Shine

Yesterday's Super Bowl was nothing short of incredible.

Like many of you, I was glued to the television as Eli Manning and the New York Giants came from behind to win the game.

It was – without a doubt – one of the most exciting Super Bowls in history.

Even if you don't follow football that much, you can't help but get amped up when you witness stories like this.

Why?

Because it's a story of victory.

A story of winning.

A story of the underdog having a HUGE success.

Eli Manning surprised everyone, and it's safe to say that his performance in yesterday's Super Bowl came as a complete shock to many.

Prior to yesterday's ball game, the majority of people were asking:

Was Eli Manning really a first-rate NFL quarterback?

Would he ever be as good as his brother?

In fact, right up to the end of the regular season, Manning was doubted by many teammates, fans and news media skeptics.

But…

Eli knew in his heart that he was a winner, and yesterday was the day he chose to show all of us what he was REALLY made of.

The play that will be discussed endlessly came when he scrambled on third-and-5 from the Giants’ 44-yard line with about a minute left.

It seemed as if he was about to be sacked, which would've been devastating.

Would-be tacklers grabbed at him, clutching his shirt and pulling it.
He kept moving to his left, escaped, found open space and launched a soaring pass toward Tyree at the Patriots’ 25-yard line.

Tyree jumped in the air and brought it down with his hands, which pressed the ball against his helmet.

And just like that, the Giants had a first down with 59 seconds left to go.

Four plays later they beat a team that was 18-0 when Eli completed a 13-yard scoring pass to Plaxico Burress in the final minute.

And while that was exciting too, it's the scramble that's gonna go down in the books as one of the greatest plays of all time.

It was an emotional experience for me as I watched yesterday's game.

You see, like Eli, I was considered me the underdog for many years.

I was doubted by onlookers.

But…

During this time in my life, when things weren't going so well, I always held strong to a comment that one of my good friends made years ago.

He said, "Kev, as long as you don't give up, you can't lose".

From the day he made that comment to me, I made the decision to NEVER give up.

I continued pushing forward toward the life I wanted to live, and the dreams I wanted to achieve - and in the end I won.

Unfortunately, most people don't look at things this way.

Sure, they have dreams and goals.

But, what they don't have, is a "refuse-to-quit" attitude.

Instead, they give up at the first sign of struggle.

They throw in the towel when things don't go as planned.

They see their mistakes as failure, and as a result, they flush their goals and dreams down the toilet.

If you expect to make it in business (and in life), the secret is in understanding that mistakes are a GOOD thing.

I'll be explaining more about this tomorrow when I write to you about "Mistakes And Missiles".

Be sure and watch for it.

Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson
