Dolly, Peacocks and Turkeys
The other day I was driving down the road, and I did something out of the ordinary.
I turned on the radio.
Now…
You're probably thinking to yourself, "that's not out of the ordinary, I listen to the radio all the time when I'm driving down the road".
Well, it's not the norm for me.
99.9% of the time, I listen to CD's.
In essence, my vehicle is a rolling university on wheels, and I ALWAYS have a stockpile of valuable munee-makin and bidness-building CD's in the Hummer.
But…
For whatever reason, I didn't pop in a CD on this occasion.
Something compelled me to turn on the radio, and when I did, I immediately understood why.
The local country station was doing a "live" interview with Dolly Parton, and let me tell you, I sure am glad that I decided to listen in.
Whether you're in to country music or not, there's plenty to be discovered from a person like Dolly.
Not only is she a successful entrepreneur – she's also got a heart of gold.
She truly cares about making a difference in this world, and having a positive impact on everyone she comes in contact with.
If you've ever been to her website (which I visited after hearing her interview), you know what I'm talking about.
During this particular interview she had plenty to share, but she really caught my attention when she said, "There's no excuse for not having the success you want in life.
Self-education allows us to do, have and become whatever our heart desires".
Now that's POWERFUL.
When I look back on my own life, I totally agree with Dolly.
My father died when I was in the 10th grade, and once my mom became the sole income earner for our family, my dream of going to college came to a screeching halt.
She simply couldn't afford to pay for my college education.
I was forced to take matters into my own hands, and yes, I took a different route.
I took the route of self-education.
The same route that Dolly was talking about.
I continually invest in home study courses, CD's, videos, seminars, tele-seminars and the like.
And though I've never attended a day of college in my life, it hasn't slowed my success in the least.
In fact – if anything – it's put it into hyperdrive.
Most folks think one's at a disadvantage if they haven't attended college, but I disagree.
Like Dolly, I know that there are two different paths, and the self-education path was the one I took.
And looking back, I don't have a single regret.
I wouldn't have changed a thing.
Being that you're one of my members, my guess is that you're on the same path, and I commend you for that.
Keep doing what you're doing.
Keep investing in yourself.
Keep discovering new things.
And most of all – have FUN.
I'm going to end this letter with a quote from Dolly's interview.
"A peacock that sits on its feathers is just another turkey".
Don't sit on your feathers.
Keep doing what you're doing so everyone can see em.
Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson
