Accosted At The Post Office

Last Thursday afternoon I had to take some packages to the post office, and as I was walking toward the front door, an over-zealous guy nearly bowls me over.

He steps directly into my path, forcing me to come to a stop, and then says, “Let me tell you my plan for saving the economy”.

I reply, “Can’t you see that I have an arm full of packages”?

After hearing this, he decides to step aside – at least momentarily.

But, in doing so, he says, “I’ll talk with you on your way out”.

And make no doubt about it, as soon as I went to exit the post office, this guy was all over me.

He was determined to give me his opinion on the economy, and let me know what we should do about it.

As I listened to him talk, I could tell that he was coming from a complete state of fear.

And the problem is, when you’re operating from a state of fear, nothing good can possibly come from it.

I oughta know, cause at one point in my life, I was constantly in a state of fear.

And now…

Thanks to the media, lots of people are fearful right now.

In fact, many folks have buried their heads in the sand, hoping that everything will just “blow over”.

The sooner - the better.

Yet my take on this is completely different.

I’m not burying my head in the sand.

I’m not waiting for things to “blow over”.

I’m not expecting our government to provide for my family.

No SIREE.

Instead, I’ve taken matters into my own hands.

Over the last 12-18 months, due to everything that’s been going on in the economy, I decided that I had to change my game strategy.

That’s what successful people do.

We don’t keep doing things the way we have in the past, and then blame the economy (or the government) because the game has changed.

And that’s exactly what’s happened.

The game has changed.

And those of us still playing to win, have had to change our game strategy in order to keep on winning.

Here’s a perfect example:

As you know, I’m in Matt Furey’s Mastermind Group, and have been since 2004.

Last year, another guy in the group was having some serious challenges because of the economy.

His business had taken a SERIOUS hit, and now he was only making a fraction of what he used to be making.

Needless to say, his world was crashing in on top of him, and as a result, it was next to impossible for him to think clearly and come up with a new game plan.

He was slipping into a state of fear, and truth is, faced with the same situation, I can’t say that I would’ve reacted any differently.

Fortunately, I have Matt to turn to when things like this happen, and so did he.

Matt was able to look at his situation objectively and tell him precisely what to do.

With Matt’s help, they laid out a new game plan, and now he’s right back on top.

Yes, you heard me right.

It’s just as if he barely missed a beat.

But…

I can also assure you, if it weren’t for Matt, things wouldn’t have worked out so well.

And let me tell you, I’ve had similar experiences with Matt.

Without him, I would not be the person I am today.
