Narrow Miss on I-5

Lisa and I spent the evening of Friday – December 19th doing some Christmas shopping, and we were completely unprepared for what would happen on our way home.

We were heading south on I-5, coming back home from Mount Vernon.

Because the freeway was covered with snow and ice, most folks, myself included, were traveling between 10-15 miles an hour.

But…

It seems like there’s always some joker who wants to push the limit, and this night was no exception.

As I was traveling in the slow lane, this little S-10 pickup passes me in the fast lane, doing about 40 miles an hour.

While I didn’t say anything to Lisa, I remember thinking to myself, “This guy is an accident waiting to happen”.

Then – just a few seconds later – IT HAPPENED.

The guy looses control of his truck on the ice and immediately goes into a couple of 360’s on the freeway.

And let me tell you, it’s a pretty sobering experience when you’re heading down the freeway, and you see a couple headlights staring you in the face.

Lisa immediately screamed, “OH MY GOSH KEVIN, SLOW DOWN”.

Little did she know that I saw what was happening, and already had my foot feathering the brake and looking for a way to avoid plowing into the S-10.

Only thing was, I knew I couldn’t hit the brake too hard, or we’d find ourselves in a spin, and that would not be a good thing.

As it turned out, I was able to slow down, move to the right, and avoid hitting the guy.

I came to a stop on the freeway, right next to the driver, who was no stopped as well, now facing north in the southbound lanes of I-5.

Within a second or so, he regained his composure (though he probably had to clean his pants later).

He got his truck turned around and headed back on his merry way.

Only this time, he kept his speed at 10 miles an hour – instead of the 40 miles an hour he’d been doing just a minute or so earlier.

Later that weekend, as I was recounting this adventure to friend, it immediately made me think about business owners, and how they react the same way.

Like I mentioned in my last email, most business owners can do well for themselves when things are going well.

But - as soon as a curve ball is thrown their way, they don't know what to do.

I promised to give you a specific example of this, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do right now.

A fellow member of a mastermind group I’m in - recently had this happen to him.

His business had been doing very well, and he was making plenty of munee.

But…

With all that’s happened in the economy over the last year or so, his business hit the skids.

What once was a thriving venture, was now going under.

And let me tell you, this guy was at his wits end.

Fortunately, the leader of this mastermind group was able to slap this guy upside the head and say, “Look, here’s all you need to do”.

Because our group leader was NOT emotionally attached to this gentleman’s business, he was able to look at things objectively, and lay out a step-by-step game plan to get things back on track for him.

When he followed the advice given, he was able to fine-tune and make the needed adjustments, and now he’s doing even better than he was before.

Now…

Here’s the critical point that you’ve got to understand:

When things start going bad…

When your world starts caving in…

When nothing seems to be going right…

It’s virtually impossible for you to think straight.

You end up on the rebound, making bad decisions that compound things, and make them worse.

That’s why it’s SO IMPORTANT that you have a coach who can be impartial and look at things objectively.

Who can bring some sanity to the table.

Who can slap you upside the head if need be, and say, “Calm down. Here’s a game plan to get you through this”.

Who can get you back on top.

If it weren’t for our coach, I can only imagine where this guy would be right now.

Entirely too many people think they can figure things out for themselves, yet the truth of the matter is, this is far too costly – and far too time consuming.

In my own business, 2008 has been a banner year.

In fact, it’s been my best year ever – BY FAR.

Yet I can assure you that would not be the case if it weren’t for my own coaches.

The same is true of those who are fortunate enough to have me as a coach.

They too are having great success, yet left to their own devices, this would NOT be the case.

And no, I don’t say that to brag or boast, but simply to state a fact.

EVERY successful business owner has a coach, and the MOST successful ones have multiple coaches.

So…

Pooch Un-Screwed

If you’ve ever seen that movie “What Happens in Vegas” with Ashton Kutcher, you’ll immediately recognize the subject line of today’s email.

There’s a now-famous line in that movie where Ashton Kutcher’s character exclaims, “Pooch Unscrewed”, after realizing that he escaped a less than ideal situation.

If you haven’t seen the movie, I won’t ruin it for you by revealing the plot here, but will let you know that it’s definitely worth a peek.

Imagine my surprise yesterday when I was online doing some research.

I’d just opted into a particular mailing list, and when I was taken to the thank you page, I saw this headline…

“Unscrew Your Life”.

Needless to say, it immediately caught my attention.

And if that weren’t enough, there were 2 sub-headlines below it which read as follows:

Your department is being eliminated. You’re out of work with a $345,000 mortgage to pay. You’re screwed, right?
Not necessarily. Here’s what you do… read the letter below to get your complimentary copy of “Unscrew Your Life”.

Talk about COMPELLING.

Who in their right mind, if concerned about their financial situation, wouldn’t want to get a copy of this report?

When selling in print, your headline accounts for a huge percentage of the income you’ll make.

I can’t remember the exact figure, but we’re talking 80% or better.

That being the case, your headline must be extremely compelling.

It must grab the reader by the throat, draw them into what you have to say, and literally force them to keep reading.

When you have a winning headline, you’ll get the results you want.

People will beat a path to your door, begging to buy what you have to offer.

Crazy Day At the Tire Shop

Last week they were predicting snow in our neck of the woods, and it looks like they predicted right.

We definitely got plenty of snow over the weekend.

A trace came late Friday night, and much more followed on Saturday evening.

After hearing that snow was on the way, I can remember thinking to myself, “You’d better get some new tires put on your truck”.

I knew that the tread was starting to wear, and the last thing I wanted to do was go into the snow and ice season unprepared.

So I call my local Les Schwab tire center first thing Friday morning, and just as I suspected, they tell me that there’s a 4-hour wait.

So Lisa and I make arrangements to drop the truck off, and have them call us when they’ve got the new tires installed.

This beats sitting in their drafty waiting room for 4 hours as countless people move in and out the doors, and wait impatiently for an attendant to call their name, informing them that their vehicle is now ready.

But, here’s what I found so interesting about this little experience.

Here we are, right in the middle of the Holiday Season, with less than two weeks until Christmas.

Many folks have already spent tons of cashola they wouldn’t normally spend.

The media is telling us that we’re supposedly in a recession.

Yet the Les Schwab tire store is busting at the seams with customers.

How can that be?

How can they be selling all those tires, and making all that moolah, right in the midst of everything that’s going on around us?

As you read this, you might be thinking, “Of course they’re busy. People want to keep their families safe on the roads, so they’re going to buy tires”.

And that is precisely my point.

People are gonna buy tires no matter what.

No matter what the economy is doing.

No matter how tight their funds might be.

No matter whether it’s the Holiday Season.

People are gonna buy tires, and they’re gonna buy tires… NO MATTER WHAT.

Les Schwab (the founder of this particular chain of tire stores), understood this, and it’s probably been one of the biggest reasons for his success.

It goes right back to the BIGGEST principle I always talk about…

Give people what they want, and they’ll buy.

And since we’re on the subject, I’ll take this one step further.

Give people what they want, and they’ll buy… NO MATTER WHAT.

Think You Got It Rough?

Every time we turn on the boob tube, it seems as though the media has nothing but bad news for us.

That’s why I hardly ever turn it on these days.

Instead, I prefer to get my input from alternate sources.

Why?

Because the stuff we let into our mind makes all the difference in the world.

And we are in complete control of what we take in.

To be honest, I’m sick and tired of hearing people whine and moan and complain about all the things that are going wrong.

I’ve got NO sympathy for them either, because the results they’re getting in their outer world are a direct result of the input they choose to partake of.

Is He Worth 18 MIL?

I don’t know if you happened to see the Barbara Walters special on ABC last evening, but as usual, she interviewed some incredible people.

In my mind, one of the interviews that topped the list was Rush Limbaugh.

Whether you like or dislike Rush, there’s no arguing the fact that this guy knows how to evoke emotion in people.

In fact, this is one of the reasons he’s so successful.

The other reason he’s so successful is not quite so obvious, yet he revealed it last night, on national television.

Most folks would never notice it, yet last night, at 53 seconds into his interview with Barbara Walters, the biggest reason for his success came through loud and clear.

She’d brought up the topic of Rush’s recent contract signing. The one that would net him 38 million a year… PLUS a 100 million bonus.

And then… it happened…

She asked him if he was worth it, and his response shocked the world.

Without flinching.

Without missing a beat.

Without giving it a second thought.

Rush immediately responded by saying, “Of course”.

And he did so with incredible confidence.

Now let me tell you, a person has got to have some pretty amazing self confidence to proudly proclaim that they’re worth 38 million a year.

If you asked the “average joe” or the “average jane” on the street what they felt they were worth on an annual basis, they sure as heck ain’t gonna tell you 38 MIL.

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who felt they were worth 100 Grand.

And that’s where the rub lies.

Rush believes that he’s worth every penny of that 38 MIL, and that my friend is why they’re giving him that much.

As you know, Matt Furey has been one of my mentors since 2004.

With his help I’ve been able to accomplish incredible things in both my business and my personal life.

One of the biggest things he taught me is that I’d NEVER make more than I felt I deserved.

Once he explained this to me, I began seeing myself worth more and more moolah.

So let me ask you…

How much do you feel your worth?

No matter what the number is at the moment, I can assure you that you’re easily worth 10 times that much.

Heck…

You’re easily worth 100 times that much.

All you have to do is decide that you are.

And once you’ve made that decision, do like I did, and find a mentor who will show you how to get the moolah you deserve.

Out Sick With The Flu

Yesterday I was out sick with the flu.

I actually started to feel under the weather on Tuesday evening, and after a long, restless night, I was in no shape to get out of bed yesterday morning.

So, I took the day off.

As uncomfortable as it was, I couldn’t help but think how good I really have it.

Sure, dealing with the flu pretty much sucks, any way you look at it.

But here’s the deal:

Didn’t have to call my boss and ask for the day off.

I didn’t have to feel bad about not going to work for the day.

And I didn’t have to worry about coming up a little short on funds to pay my monthly bills.

You see, because I’m my own boss, and because my income is automated, I didn’t have to worry about any of this stuff.

Whether I work or not, the munee is still gonna come in.

Now, before I go any further, I need to make one thing perfectly clear.

I’m not telling you this in order to brag or boast.

If you’ve been around for any length of time at all, you know that I’m one of the most humble guys on the planet.

But the fact is, if you’re not happy with where you’re at in life, and I’m talking right here, right now – TODAY – then you’ve got no one to blame but yourself.

I know, I know, that’s a pretty bold statement.

And it might even upset you.

But I’m not going to back down on this one, because it’s the honest truth.

There are many who would prefer to blame someone else for their situation.

They blame the company who laid them off.

They blame our elected officials.

They blame the economy.

They blame everyone but themselves.

Now, I will say, that when it comes to the economy, we certainly are in a state of change.

We’re entering a new economy.

Those who still have their heads buried in the sand, waiting for everything to go back to the way it was - well, let’s just say that they’re going to be terribly disappointed.

Cause I’m here to tell you, things ain’t going back to the way they used to be.

Things have changed, and they’ve changed forever.

We’re entering a new economy, and those of us who understand the game are already profiting.

Think back to the Great Depression.

It was a rough period for most, yet at the same time, more millionaires were created during this period, than any other period in history.

Well, that’s what’s going on right now.

Millionaires are being made right now.

Right in front of our very eyes.

So, the question you have to ask yourself is this, am I going to blame others for my situation, or am I going to take personal responsibility for myself and my family?

And when you chose the later, everything else will come together, almost as if by magic.

Grand Cayman Photos

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, as well as an opportunity to spend some quality time with family and friends this weekend.

Lisa, the kids and I spent Thanksgiving with grandma (Lisa’s mom), and as usual, we all ate too much.

The rest of the weekend was spent decorating our home for Christmas.

As we were putting our tree up, I began thinking about Christmas as a child, and all the fond memories I have.

And though my parents have both passed away, I still think about them, especially at this time of year.

This time of year used to be a challenge for me, being a single guy and having no immediate family to spend the Holiday’s with.

But…

Ever since meeting Lisa, I consider myself a truly blessed man.

Her family has welcomed me in with open arms, and I can’t begin to tell you how wonderful it feels.

As you probably know, my brother and his wife Sharon have been living in Grand Cayman since last January, and in a recent phone conversation, he was telling me how it can get kind of lonely at times.

Sure, it’s a beautiful part of the world, but even at that, they don’t have any family nearby.

That’s why Lisa and I decided to go visit them earlier this month.

It was great to get away and find some sun.

But what made this trip REALY special was spending some quality time with my brother, who I hadn’t seen in many months.

I promised to share some of our vacation photos with you, which you’ll find when you Go Here.

While in Cayman, my brother and his instructor took me diving for the first time, and let me tell you, it was one heck of an experience.

You can bet that I’ll be doing that some more.

Kyle (my brother) took some underwater photos of our adventure, and as soon as he gets them to me, I’ll be sure to share them with you.

Happy Thanksgiving

Lisa and I just returned home from vacationing in Grand Cayman.

This island was made even more famous in the movie “The Firm”, with Gene Hackman and Tom Cruise.

Although, the location where most of the filming took place was accidentally burnt to the ground shortly after the movie was made.

We had a great time on the island, and I had the opportunity to go scuba diving for the first time in my life.

I’d planned to write while on vacation, but time simply didn’t permit.

That’s why I wanted to get this email off to you, so I could wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.

As soon as I get a chance though, I will share some photos of our vacation.

I was going through them this morning, and it really caused me to pause and give thanks for all the good things in my life.

And truth be told, this month has been FULL of things to give thanks for.

Yet another example would be the recent Home Office Field Trip, in which I was able to spend an entire weekend with some of the most awesome entrepreneurs and business owners in the world.

I trust that you too will take time this week to give thanks for all the good things in your life.

Because when you do, it will bring even MORE great things your way.

I oghta know, cause I’ve been doing this for many years now.

It Happened Last Weekend

I spent last Friday and Saturday with a group of the most motivated, forward-thinking people I’ve ever met.

And let me tell you, everyone in attendance had their eyes opened to a whole new world of possibilities.

This was the first time I’ve ever hosted such an event, but it certainly won’t be the last.

By the time the event was over on Saturday evening, everyone was RAVING about what they’d experienced, and all that they discovered.

In fact, my good friend (and client) Brett Brodie, was able to record a few of their comments on video.

Get Your Sweet Revenge

Last night Dan Kennedy gave an incredible presentation here at the Glazier-Kennedy Info Summit in St. Louis.

What made the evening really special is the fact that Dan doesn't do much public speaking these days.

He's taken somewhat of an early retirement, which means that fans like me don't get to see him nearly as often as we used to.

And that being the case, it's a "big deal" when we get the opportunity to spend the evening with him.

One of the things he talked about was his early years in business, and how he had everything going against him.

One of the biggest things was the fact that he had this major stuttering problem.

It was so bad, that almost everyone told him that he would never make it in the public speaking world.

But guess who's having the last laugh now. And he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Dan Kennedy has become a HUGE success in business, and is revered by countless people like myself.

Hearing his story immediately reminded me of when I first started in business.

I too had many nay-sayers who told me that I didn't have what it takes.

Who told me not to waste my time.

Who told me I'd never be a success in business.

In fact, there was this one guy in particular who REALLY used to get under my skin.

He was an acquaintance of an old room mate, and every time he came over to our house, he'd make these snide comments.

Comments like:

"So Kev, have you made your first millyun yet"?

or…

"Looks like those seminar promoters sure do know how to suck the munee out of your wallet".

Like I said, this guy really used to get on my nerves.

But – I'd just bite my tongue and ignore him.

Then, on November 11th of 2006, I finally got my sweet revenge.

That Saturday was a big day for me, and I remember it well.

That was the day that I bought my new Hummer.

I'd got up early that morning so I could head down to the dealership near Seattle.

It just so happened that Robert, my old room mate, called me as I was heading down the freeway.

He called to see what I was up to for the day, and when I told him that I was on my way to buy a new Hummer, it surprised him to say the least.

He says, "That is so awesome Kevin. You really deserve it. When you head back this way, stop by my place so I can check out your new rig".

So, that afternoon, on the way home from the dealership, I stopped by Robert's house.

And when I pull up, guess who's standing in the driveway with him?

Yep, you guessed it.

The schmuck.

That jerk who used to give me such a hard time.

And let me tell you, seeing the look on his face when I pulled up in the new Hummer was priceless.

His jaw hit the ground.

And you know what else?

I didn't say a word to him, and he didn't say a word to me.

But it sure did feel good to know that I finally shut this guy up.

Maybe you've had a similar experience.

Maybe you've got someone, or even multiple someone's who get under your skin.

Who don't have faith in you.

Who don't want to see you succeed.

And if that's the case, here's what you need to do.

Do the same thing I did. Don't give them the satisfaction. Just keep your mouth shut.

Then…

Keep doing what you need to do.

Keep associating with like-minded, forward-thinking people who care about you, and can help you reach your goals.

And when the time is right, you'll get your sweet revenge – just like I did.

Live From St. Louis – Part 1

I'm currently here in St. Louis, attending the HUGE Glazier-Kennedy Info Summit.

Today Is Decision Day

Yes, today is the day that we cast our vote for president.

I got an email this morning from one of my mentors, Matt Furey, who’s currently spending time at his second home in China.

He said that last week, the Chinese favored Obama to win the election.

Yet this morning, they’re reporting that McCain might win.

Needless to say, we’ll know the election outcome very soon.

And while this has been a widely publicized election campaign, your vote today is far from the most important decision you’ll make this year.

The most important decision you’ll make this year - is for yourself.

At Matt’s last Mastermind Meeting in Tampa, he talked about the importance of making the decision to prosper… even during a recession.

And the truth is, I made this decision awhile back.

It fact, it’s the very reason I’m having such a great year.

A few weeks ago I attended a seminar in Phoenix where I heard countless people speaking from the stage, reporting that 2008 was going to be their best year ever as well.

After hearing their stories, I made a mental note, “Be sure to talk with a few of these people before the seminar ends so you can get their take on this whole recession thing”.

After speaking with a handful of these people who were experiencing incredible growth in their business this year, here’s what I found:

1. They too had made a DECISION to prosper… in spite of the recession.

2, They too had a burning desire to succeed.

3. They too refused to watch the boob tube.

4. They too got their input from other like-minded, forward-thinking people.

Here’s something else that’s interesting to note.

None of these successful people are expecting Obama or McCain to come to their rescue.

And neither am I.

You see, we understand that while the president certainly has a big hand in deciding the rules of the game – we’re responsible for coming up with strategies that allow us to win as we play by those rules.

In essence, we have made the decision to prosper and be successful – no matter what.

So let me ask you…

Have you made the decision?

The Big Election

Tomorrow represents the big day – the day when we elect a new president.

But, no matter who gets voted into office, a large percentage of the population is not going to be happy.

Why?

Because their candidate wasn’t elected.

Personally, I get tired of all the promises from both sides – talking about how they’re going to make us happier, healthier and more secure.

Because the fact is, neither of them will.

That’s right, neither Obama nor McCain is gonna make you happier, healthier or more secure.

The one thing I’ve learned is that we can’t place our hope in politicians.

The ONLY person you can place hope in is YOU.

When we look back, history proves this to be true – over, and over, and over again.

Every successful person on the face of the planet has done for themselves.

They had their own dreams.

They took action on those dreams.

They turned those dreams into a reality, and made a fortune in the process.

Even during the Great Depression, there were many who had dreams, took action and prospered.

They did not concern themselves with what was going on in the media.

Instead, their strength came from inside.

They had a belief in themselves, and it’s that belief that paved the way to their success.

If you want to do the same, then follow my lead.

Turn the boob tube OFF, and change the source of your input.

For me, I haven’t watched television in months.

Instead, I spent my time listening to, brainstorming and communicating with forward thinking people who have a powerful belief in themselves, as well as those around them.

Is it any wonder that 2008 will be my best year… EVER.

Of course not.

And the funny thing is…

In the circles I spend my time, success stories like this are the order of the day.

Tons of people are having their best year ever.

And you my friend can do the same.

She Made False Assumptions

Yesterday I shared a VERY interesting story that explained out tax system in beer dollars.

After doing so, I got some feedback from a member who made false assumptions about my motivation for sharing with you.

As you can see, she even went so far to accuse me of having hidden motives.

Dear Kevin,

I normally enjoy your daily wisdom... I mean I subscribed to your system to get a daily dose of advice concerning building wealth.

What I did not sign up for is the thinly veiled attempt to get me to vote for John McCain.

It is kind of like going to church on Sunday to worship the Lord, and then have my pastor tell the congregation that a vote for Obama will be the end of our great nation her morals.

Kevin, I go to church to worship, not to decide on my political views.

On those, I can make up my own mind.

In the future, stick to business advice... or at least put your endorsement for John McCain in black and white versus the shady grey story you sent to your readers.

What’s so interesting about this is that I’m not for McCain or Obama.

In fact – because I am an absentee voter, my ballot has already been cast, and I voted for neither of them.

Wanna know who I voted for?

I voted for me.

You see, there’s one thing I’ve discovered over the years, and it’s this – we can not count on government to take care of us.

And if we do, we’ll be sorely disappointed.

When it comes to our well being, and the livelihood of our families, we’ve got to take a stand for ourselves.

We’ve got to take personal responsibility.

We’ve got to take matters into our own hands.

If we’re not where we want to be in life, it’s our own fault.

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Yes, I know that may sound harsh, but it’s the truth.

There are many who prefer to blame others for their lot in life.

They blame their employer, the economy, the politicians, etc, etc, etc.

But…

People who are successful refuse to play the “blame game”.

Now, I’m not suggesting that life is always a bed of roses. Far from it.

In my own life and business, curve balls are thrown my way on a regular basis.

But I’ve become very adept at dealing with them.

And yes, sometimes I need outside help, and that’s why I insist on having a handful of outside mentors that I can call on when needed.

These mentors are people whom I greatly value their advice and input.

They have already been there, and done that.

They have been on the road to success longer than me, and have knowledge that I don’t yet possess.

But… they’re more than willing to share that knowledge with me when I need it.

And the same is true of me.

I love sharing my knowledge with you.

I love to see you take the resources, tools and strategies I provide, and use them to change your life for the better.

I love to hear the stories of how your life has dramatically changed for the better, simply because our paths have crossed.

Our Big Parenting Mistake

Yesterday I told you that Lisa and I went to Phoenix last week, as I was scheduled to speak to over 500 industry professionals at Joe Polish’s Rich Cleaner Conference.

I also told you that we took Brock along with us.

What I didn’t tell you was that we were completely unprepared for what would happen.

The last time we took Brock on a trip like this was when he was 3 months old, and everything went great.

But…

Now that he’s 6 months old, things are a little bit different.

We were in Phoenix for 6 days, and by day 2 of our journey, Brock was getting bored, restless, and needing a whole lot of personal attention.

You see, when we’re at home, he has all kinds of toys to entertain him.

He also has a bouncer, a walker and a swing, which he makes full use of on a daily basis.

And now, being put in a position where he was without these luxuries, he was NOT a happy camper.

Lisa ended up having to carry him for almost the entire week, and as you can imagine, this really took its toll on her body.

Especially since Brock has been growing so much.

And just in case you’re wondering, no, we didn’t even think to take a stroller with us either.

How crazy is THAT.

For me, being a first time parent is full of surprises, and yes, I’ve been making plenty of mistakes as a new dad.

I thank God for Lisa on a daily basis.

Since she’s already raised 4 kids, she’s much more versed in this whole parenting role than I am, which is a HUGE blessing to me.

But even at that, Kaitlynn (the youngest) is getting ready to turn 16, so it’s been awhile since Lisa had babies running around, so she re-learning a lot of things herself.

Sometimes I get frustrated with myself for all the parenting mistakes I make, and I have to remember that this is a learning process, and making mistakes is the way we learn.

This is a lesson I discovered years ago in my business as well.

While most business owners think that making mistakes is a bad thing, I understand that mistakes are actually a GOOD thing – as long as we learn from those mistakes.

Fortunately for me, I also discovered that the best way to avoid most mistakes is to find a mentor who’s already been there and done that.

What’s Your Story?

Last Wednesday Lisa and I went to Phoenix for the week, and we took Brock with us.

That’s a story in itself, but it’s a story for another day.

I was scheduled to speak at Joe Polish’s Rich Cleaner Conference and share some of my most successful marketing strategies with the 500+ people in attendance.

It was a humbling experience to say the least.

I can’t tell you how gratifying it was for the opportunity to have such a profound impact on so many lives.

As soon as I walked off the stage, I was greeted by countless people who wanted to thank me for making such a difference in their lives and giving them so many valuable tools to grow their businesses.

And if that weren’t enough, 23 people have sent me emails since the event.

In fact, here’s one that just came in this morning:

Hi Kevin,

You’re an incredible guy and I thank you for being so real. I would like to get more information on what you do. I’d like to get my daughter hooked up with your system. She is a net/computer junkie and can’t stand to have a punch a clock job. So, being the enabling father I am, this may be just what she needs in order to experience the freedom of self employment.

Also, I’m looking to start a project of my own, and would love it if you could spend sometime with me discussing web strategies where to start and the like. Basically I know nothing and respect you and your advice.

What’s interesting to note about Phil’s email (as well as the many others I’ve received) is that I made a connection with him.

When you connect with people on a deeply emotional level and give them what they naturally want to buy, you won’t be able to stop the flow of munee – even if you wanted to.

Flying Over Iraq

On Monday – October 6th, I received an email from a Naval Pilot who’s spent more time flying over Iraq than he cares to remember.

Needless to say, he’s looking for a better way to provide for his family.

Pay close attention to his story, as well as my advice to him.

I was sitting front row at Matt Furey’s 4 Hour Workday Seminar, dressed in a blue suit and I was moved by your story.

I work for the Navy and I have four children.

At any moment I can be whisked away and all of a sudden "daddy's gone".

My children ask where I went to, and my wife just says "he is in the airplane" and they nod, "ooh, the airplane."

Of course when I’m gone the kids act up so my wife has to worry about that on top of the ever present, though perhaps submerged and suppressed thought that I may not come back.

I never mention this to anyone because few people understand, and more importantly no one cares.

A Lesson In Premium Pricing

Earlier this year, on August 23rd, I was in Tampa, Florida for Matt Furey’s Mastermind Meeting.

One of the things Matt offers at these meeting is something called a “hotseat”.

A “hotseat” is where Matt brings you up on stage with him, in front of the entire audience, and you get to ask him how to overcome your biggest business challenge.

At which time Matt and the rest of the group will single-handedly tell you precisely what you need to do.

And let me tell you, sometimes these “hotseats” can be REALLY uncomfortable.

After all, you’re being put on the spot, right in front of God, Matt and everyone else in the audience.

But…

If you’re open to constructive criticism, it can be one of the most valuable experiences of your life.

You’ll come away, knowing exactly what changes you need to make in your business.

And many times, these changes will lead to dramatic increases in your income.

This is exactly what happened to me on August 23rd.

Matt had chosen me for the “hotseat”.

I went up to the stage, sat in the chair that was waiting for me, and Matt asks me, “So Kev, what’s your biggest business challenge at the moment”?

I immediately began telling him about my coaching program.

I said, “Matt, I’ve been offering my Automatic Income Mastery Coaching Program for several years now.

In that time, I’ve seen many of the members increase their incomes dramatically.

$97 is WAY too cheap, and that’s the reason people drop out of your coaching program.

They don’t put enough value on it.

You need to raise the investment, and you need to raise it dramatically”.

Needless to say, it was a little bit painful for me to hear this, but I have to admit, I was curious as to what he was thinking, so I asked him, “How much should I raise the investment”?

“You need to increase the investment for your coaching program to a minimum of $397 a month”.

Now, most people would be in shock by such a statement.

But I’ve been in Matt’s Mastermind Group since 2003, so I wasn’t as shocked by his statement as most folks probably were.

I came back home from that meeting and immediately did what Matt told me to do.

I increased the investment for the Automatic Income Mastery Coaching Program to $397.

And guess what happened.

It's Not Expensive, You're Too Cheap

I got an email yesterday from my good friend Tim Black with the very same subject line – “It's Not Expensive, You're Too Cheap”.

Needless to say, it got my attention, and I had to open it immediately.

Now…

I’ve known Tim for quite awhile now, and he knows that I’m not cheap.

And though I knew he’d never call me cheap, I had to find out what his email was all about.

After opening it, I discovered that he was talking about a slogan that he saw on the side of a truck.

Apparently, there’s a beer that’s called Arrogant Bastard Beer, and their slogan is “It's Not Expensive, You're Too Cheap”.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that this beer sells for $10 bucks a bottle.

After reading Tim’s email, it reminded me of a seminar I attended a couple years ago, where Dan Kennedy was talking about businesses that do premium pricing for their products and services.

As examples he talked about:

A company that sells dog beds for $899.00 - $1,299.00.

A mattress company that sells mattresses for $49,500.00 – yes you read that right.

A company that sells time shares for $445,000.00, which then allows you to pay them annual dues of $29,500.00, which then allows you to pay them $400.00 - $500.00 a night to stay at their properties.

Dan went on to say that most business owners err on the side of pricing their products and services too cheap.

Too many business owners are afraid to charge premium prices, and this is a HUGE mistake.

Most business owners mistakenly believe that their customers make buying decisions based solely on price.

But the fact of the matter is, only 5% of the entire population buys solely on price.

The other 95% of us make buying decisions by looking at other factors, such as convenience, speed of result, satisfaction with purchase and pride in spending to name a few.

And yes, pride of spending is a biggie.

There’s a good percentage of the population who take pride in paying premium prices for almost everything they buy.

I recently made a discovery in my own business that proves this very point, and I’ll be revealing that discovery to you tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the big take-away for you today is this:

Don’t underestimate your ability to offer your products and services at premium prices.

People are willing to pay a LOT more than you think, as long as they’re getting good value for their investment.

Take It With A Grain Of Pepper

Every time we turn on the boob tube, the media is telling us that economy is going down the toilet.

They want us to be in a state of shock and panic, believing that what they’re telling us is the truth.

They want you and I to crawl into our cave and wait out the storm.

But…

What they ain’t telling you is this:

There are PLENTY of people making MAJOR hay right now.

That’s right.

There are many of us who take what the media says with a grain of pepper.

Why?

Because we’re in control of our own destiny.

We’re in control of our own lives.

We’re in control of our own financial situation.

The media is NOT.

And the funny thing is – it doesn’t matter whether the economy is booming or not.

You will always hear people whining and moaning about how bad things are, how they can never get ahead, and how they can never catch a break.

But the fact is, it ain’t the state of the economy that causes people to think this way.

People like this bemoan their lot in life even when the economy is booming.

Your lot in life is determined not by the state of the economy, but by the “state of your mind”.

I learned this lesson a long time ago from my mentor Matt Furey, and let me tell you, it’s one I’ve NEVER forgot.

Yesterday, I told you that September 2008 was going to be my best month EVER.

And the reason for that is because I believed that it would be – even in spite of what we hear on the boob tube.

Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about.

When it comes to having a business online, many people immediately say, “I could never do that. For crying out loud, I don’t even know how to set up a website. Not only that, technology scares me”.

By saying this, you’ve immediately set yourself up for failure.

The “state of your mind” is telling you that you can’t be successful.

I used to be this way myself, and I can assure you that nothing good ever came of it.

Now days, whenever I want to accomplish something, my mind immediately goes to work and I ask myself, “How can I find the people or resources that will allow me to reach my intended goal”?

So…

Stock Market Shenanigans

A good friend of mine called me yesterday afternoon to tell me about the Dow’s 778 point drop.

It was the worst single-day point loss in history.

And now, democrats are blaming republicans, while republicans are blaming democrats.

No one wants to take any personal responsibility for what’s going on.

But…

The good news for you and I, is the fact that we can take matters into our own hands.

Let me ask you something.

Do you think that Bill Gates or Donald Trump is the least bit concerned about yesterday’s news?

Of course not.

Yesterday’s news is simply that – it’s news, and nothing more.

Of course, they make adjustments in what they do, based on what’s going on in the economy, but they sure as heck don’t go crawling under some rock.

This is the same thing that ALL smart entrepreneurs do.

I learned long ago that my financial situation has absolutely NOTHING to do with what the media is telling us.

The livelihood of my family rests solely in MY hands – and no one else’s.

And I’ve got to be honest here, until my friend called with the news, I didn’t even know about the market drop.

Sure, I’d heard about the bailout and all that, but I hadn’t yet heard about the plan being rejected.

And truth is, whether the plan was rejected or accepted, it wasn’t going to change the fact that September 08 is going to be the best month of my business career.

That’s right.

The best month EVER.

So…

How can I be having the best month ever, when the media is crying doom and gloom, and telling us that we’re in a recession?

Simple.

I understand the same thing that Bill and “The Donald” do – which is that our economy is currently in a state of change, and that represents a HUGE opportunity for those of us who know how to capitalize on it.

5:57AM Wake Up

This morning I was woken out of bed at 5:57am by our 5-month old son Brock, who decided that it was time to start his day.

Just like every morning, he woke with a HUGE smile on his face.

And let me tell you, every time I see that smile of his, it gets my day off to a great start.

Now don’t get me wrong, even before Brock was born, I was excited to get out of bed every morning, but now days, I’m doubly-excited.

Most mornings, before heading into my home office, I spend plenty of quality time with Brock.

I can’t tell you how blessed I am for the opportunity to be a stay at home dad, and have Lisa be a stay at home mom.

But even more than that, I feel blessed for the opportunity to share my life experiences with you, so you too can have the same kind of lifestyle for yourself.

Because the fact is, I’m the most least-likely guy to even be talking to you about the subject of making munee online with a business of your own.

It wasn’t that long ago that I was over 55 Grand in debt, had a business that consumed my life, and was working my tail off in order to provide a decent living for my family.

Yet now – I make plenty of cashola, I work about 4 hours a day, and I have a business that pays me for doing what I LOVE.

And along the way, I discovered that it ain’t that difficult.

All you have to do is find a mentor.

A mentor who’s already done what you want to accomplish.

When you think about it, every thing we know how to do was taught to us by someone else.

From the time we were babies, this has been the case.

For example:

Our parents taught us how to tie our shoelaces, brush our teeth and ride a bike.

Our teachers taught us countless things during our school years.

Our employers taught us how to do the job they needed us to do.

After coming to this realization several years ago, it dawned on me that the secret to becoming a successful business owner was to find someone who could teach me what I needed to know.

That’s when I began searching for a mentor. A mentor who was already VERY successful in business, and was willing to teach ME how to become successful.

And let me tell you, there’s a HUGE lesson here.

If you want to know how to do anything, all you have to find someone who already knows how to do the thing that you want to accomplish.

And once you’ve found that mentor, do whatever they tell you to do.

Because the fact is, they have your best interest at heart.

It makes them feel good, knowing that they had a hand in your success.

“The Connection”

Last Thursday morning at 8:30, I was sitting in Matt Furey’s 4-Hour Workday Seminar in Tampa, when he told the story of how he got hit over the head with a beer pitcher when he was 19 years old.

As he recounted all the horrific details, it immediately reminded me of the first time I heard him tell this story, back in 2004.

It had one heck of an impact on me back then, and it had even MORE of an impact now.

I couldn’t help but think about all the good things that have happened in my life since then.

And now, like Matt, I too have come to understand the importance of opening up.

The importance of being candid.

The importance of sharing from your heart.

This is how you truly connect with others on an emotional level.

Later that day, I had the opportunity to share my story with the audience, and then offer my products and services.

In the hour prior to my presentation, I spent some time in private, thinking about how I could have the greatest impact on everyone in the room.

My goal…

To leave everyone in a better place, simply because we had the opportunity to meet.

Whether they chose to invest in my products or not, I wanted them to go away with their eyes open to a whole new world of possibilities.

I wanted them to go away – a different person than when they arrived.

And let me tell you, I achieved this goal, and I did it in spades.

This is precisely what YOU want to do in YOUR business as well.

You want to connect with people on an emotional level.

It’s this emotional connection that allows people to bond with you, get to know you, and makes them want to be a part of what you’ve got going on.

You see…

People buy from people they feel an emotional connection with.

And just in case you’re wondering – yes, plenty of people in the room decided to invest in my products, but they did so because they felt a connection.

They did NOT invest in my products because they felt high pressured to do so.

Like I mentioned earlier, I didn’t prepare for my presentation by asking myself, “How can I sell as many of my products as possible”?

I prepared for my presentation by asking myself, “How can I have the biggest impact, and the deepest emotional connection with everyone in the room”?

By asking myself the right questions, the munee was simply attracted to me, and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

This is precisely what you want to do in your business as well.

By truly caring about those who come to you, munee will be attracted to you almost as if by magic.

Your intentions will come through loud and clear, and you won’t be able to stop the flow of munee – even if you wanted to.

He Cheated Death

Last week I got an email from Brett Brodie, and in it he shared the amazing experience of how he cheated death 3 weeks ago.

If Brett’s name rings a bell with you, it’s because he’s a fellow client.

In fact, he was one of the very first people to pick up a copy of the Automatic Income System, back in 2004.

Since that time, he’s accomplished many incredible things in his business, and his personal life.

Over the last several years, Brett and I have become close friends, and I talk with him on a regular basis.

That’s why it was so odd that I hadn’t heard from him recently.

After getting his email last week (which I’m sharing with you below) it all made perfect sense.

Needless to say, I’m extremely happy that Brett is still with us, because the truth of the matter his – he shouldn’t be.

As you read his email, you’re going to be moved, just as Lisa and I were.

More importantly, you’re going to have an entirely NEW outlook on life.

It's been an amazing 3 or so weeks in the Brodie household.As you may know I got injured in an explosion/fire and have been almost totally incapacitated for the entire time.I was helping light a huge bonfire, in fact 40ft long, 15ft wide and 10ft high.

Naturally, we had to use some fuel, namely gasoline and diesel to ignite it.

Little did we realize that being down in a gully with no wind, the gas fumes would create a fume boundary.

After letting the fuel sit for around 10 minutes, I proceeded to head towards the pile to light some dry leaves to then throw them onto the trail of gas we leaked out around 10ft from the pile of wood. I didn’t get near the trail....One quick flick test of my lighter, and – KABOOM.

I'm in the middle of a fireball that has consumed the entire area with a radius of 35 feet from the firewood.

Witnesses say the fireball shot 40-50ft in the air. How did I get out alive?It happened so quickly and left me no time to think.

People said I set a land speed record and came out of the fireball on fire.

Here's what really happened… God picked me up and pulled me out of the fire.

According to the surgeon at the burn unit, there was not enough oxygen for me to have taken a breath, and make a decision to run. No possible way.

Plus I had a 30 foot run to get free of the flames, which by the way had me completely surrounded.

I do remember the sound of the flash.

I remember the smell of the fire.

Then I remember slowing down to a jog and being 'put out'.

My ears were ringing, but I remember people running towards me asking and yelling if I was alright. I was in shock, but I was still.

My hair was on fire still, people brushing my hair and clothing and the burn to my skin was so intense, the doctor was amazed I could even walk.I received 2nd and 3rd degree burns to my face, mouth, lower right leg, 100% of my left leg and 80% of my left arm.

I had a beard and mustache at the time and it melted onto my face from the heat. My socks were melted to my ankles and the clothes I wore were shot.I am so grateful to be alive.

After many trips to the emergency room then burn unit treatment, I’m almost recovered, in record time.

I will tell you this; a visit to the burn unit anywhere on earth will make you quickly recognize how lucky you are.

The screaming and howling by patients is unbelievably horrific to say the least. I am now walking again.

After a few weeks I was able to take a bath, thank goodness and am left with one bandage on my left leg from the knee to my ankle.

I hope within 2 more weeks to be bandage free and slightly back to normal.I must admit, the pain intensity endured through serious burns to the skin is unlike no other.

There is basically no relief and pain medication stands in to put you to sleep for a few hours, but has no effect on the pain itself.

There are no antibiotics allowed, so keeping the wounds clean to avoid infection is most important.

The twice weekly 'scrapings' are unbearable, just imagine a wire brush on an open wound......ouch. Not to mention what happens when the area gets infected....Anyway, I have a renewed look upon life.

I know God has bigger plans and my purpose hasn’t been discovered yet.I have learned a few things the past few weeks and I will finish by sharing those with you:

* You can truly feel prayer

* Every day of life is precious

* You learn to appreciate riches in life when you nearly lose those on the top of your priority list

* There is nothing on TV during the day, except when the olympics are on

* Animals know when you're hurting

* People do care...even those you thought didn’t

* It"s the little stuff that matters

* You are special

* Munee holds no value vs survival

* Fires spark new life, as in forests, same in humans

* There's always someone else worse off than you

* What matters most to you probably doesn’t

* Silence is a cure for pain

* Eyebrows and eyelashes grow faster than facial hair

* Burns hurt worse than gunshots

* I don’t like bonfires

* Roses do smell nice

* Health trumps financial riches

* Forgive everyone

* Writing your thoughts is incredible therapy

* The phrase "I'm on fire" really means something

* There are lots of nicknames for burn victims. My favorites are bubblewrap, kingsford, charcoal, and sparky.

* It's time to slow down and focus on exactly what direction I need to go

* Be grateful for loyal employees

* You've got to have a plan in case....for the what if’s....

* The weather channel actually has enough content for a 24hour period

* I have a great group of friends

* Nothing is Impossible with God

Hopefully you can learn a few things from my story because I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemies (even if I had any).

I'm back. Bigger and better than ever.
